Women's Basketball Moves into Three-Way Tie For Second Place in Conference

Pleasantville, NY- Jan. 30. The Pace Women's Basketball continued their winning streak against the Bentley Falcons, moving them into a three- way tie for second place in NE-10 conference.
Setters achieved their sixth win in a row with the final score of 71-55, improving 15-5 overall and 12-3 in conference.
"Today's win has now put us in a triple tie for second in our conference, it feels great!" said Maral Javadifar of her team's win. "Today's game wouldn't go the way it did if we didn't play hard. I think the team and I all played hard in this game and that's why we won."
Javadifar and teammate Brittany Huggins lead the game, with Javadifar scoring 19 points and Huggins 17.
The Setters kept a steady throughout both halves. Javadifar began the game by nailing a good jump shot with an assist by Taylor Losey, making the score 2-0. The Falcons' Colette Josey then put the team on the scoreboard with a 2 point shot. Javadifar shot another 2 pointer with another assist by Losey, followed by a layup by Javadifar, making the score 9-2. Setters continued going for another 6 points, Pace in the lead of 17-2, with the help of two good foul shots by Carol Johnson.
The Falcons tried to catch up with a layup by Elise Caira and a 3 pointer by Katherine Goodwin. The Setters continued to score with both foul shots made by Laura Mooney and a layup by Kristin Connolly, ending the first period with the setter in the lead, 34-22.
The start of the second period was exciting for the crowd. After missing a layup, Javadifar stole the ball, and passed it to Laura Mooney, who got a 3 point shot, making the game 41-30. There was another steal right after the shot, by Javadifar, assisting Huggins who made a good layup. There was another successful steal by Huggins, followed by a layup by Connolly. Javadifar continued to have an outstanding game, making 3 of her foul shots and a good layup, the score becoming 52-35.
The game ended with the help of Huggins making 3 of her foul shots. Losey and Lisa Welsome helped throughout the game as well; Losey with 5 assists and Welsome with 11 rebounds. The Setters return to Goldstein Fitness Center, Saturday February 13th at 1:30, against St. Rose.
