Pleasantville, Jan.30- After a two game winning streak against Merrimack and UMASS Lowell, Pace Men's Basketball lost 76-53 against the Bentley Falcons on Saturday. Laurence McGhee led the game with 19 points, and Ryan Woods contributed to the game with 10 rebounds.
In the start of the first period, McGhee shot a 3 pointer with an assist by Carlos Howard, making the score 3-0. Pace continued to take the lead with a 3 point shot by Woods, but Bentley tied the game at 6-6 with a foul shot by Joe Fremeau - and continued to score.
The Setters tried to catch up with only 1 point away at 16-15 with a layup by McGhee. Adrian Mills helped tied the game at 26-26 with a layup. Pace could not take the lead and the first period ended with Bentley leading 36-27.
In the second period, the Setters tried to keep up with shots and layups from McGhee, Woods, Delroy Daley and Mills. They were able to only be down by 6 (47-41), but the Setter's defense was not strong enough against Bentley's offense and Bentley took the lead by 23, ending the game with the score of 76-53.
The Setters had an "off- day" playing against Bentley, but will have another chance to pull out a win on Feb. 3rd, when they head to Adelphi University to play against the Adelphi Panthers.
